After playing these on a faster machine, I believe the main culprit for slowdowns on vintage hardware is the "tunnel of smoke" effect in the background. It's really a shame that a non-game element is the culprit, since for a "causal flash" game of this nature, your target audience is somewhat more likely to still be using older hardware. The moving text and voice over work otherwise, and I can forsee people deliberately playing this on slow machines to pad their scores. Especially if they heavily played the original CD and Netshow versions... (I'm already seeing some evidence of this on Digg.com, which was responsible for overloading your server last night.)
